A race............A Jellyroll 1600 race that is!

So I have seen the Jellyroll 1600 quilts around blogland lately and then it was brought up at a meeting at my local quilt guild. I have a wedding coming up in February that I am invited too and thought that this would make a great throw on the end of the couch, snuggle up watching movies type of quilt. I chose a jellyroll in Reunion by Sweetwater fabrics since it has some great colors that would be great for men as well as women.

Here is the start of my quilt race!

Here is my pile going along on the floor.
I did make the mistake that the first time I was joining the rows together I did not make sure that there was no twist in the fabric (which is hard to keep straight with the 1600 inches worth of fabric!) but I got that managed all right and just made sure there were no twists for the other rows.

It went along fairly quickly, all of a sudden I was putting one more piece together thinking I had two more times to go and when I cut it at the middle and laid it out I was like "Wow, I'm done already!"

I just have to iron it and square up the sides and will post a pic soon!
